Municipal CouncilThe Municipality of the District of St. Mary's (rural municipality) was incorporated in 1879. It provides essential services to the everyday needs of its citizens. The Municipality is bounded by the counties of Pictou and Halifax, the Eastern Shore of the Atlantic Ocean and the Municipality of Guysborough. The Municipality is divided into seven polling districts, which are represented by seven councilors who are elected for a four year term. Following municipal elections on October 16, 2004, the seven elected officials nominated and voted for the various council positions. This takes place at the the first regular monthly meeting of Council after the Municipal Elections.
