St. Mary's Walks

Walking Program in Sherbrooke

Winter is here! Along with winter comes icy roads and cold weather.

With limited places to walk safely during the winter months, St. Mary’s Recreation office will bring back the St. Mary’s Walking program at St. Mary’s Academy.  The program will begin in November, 2011 Monday to Thursday until the end of February, 2012.

ST. MARY’S WALKING PROGRAM It’s getting that time again where it is getting chilly outside! St. Mary’s Recreation has the fix for you. St. Mary’s Academy will be open for you for the month of February to walk the halls Monday to Thursday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm to walk in warmth, and out of the cold.

You can walk the halls of St. Mary’s while socializing and be active without worrying about cold weather or ice.  There is no cost for this program just sign in at the St. Mary’s Fitness Centre and enjoy the walk.  While walking take a look at the pictures and see if you recognized anyone.

H&S Walkabout

Heart& Stroke Walkabout is coming to a C@P Site near you!
Walking is such an easy and fun activity but many people forget that it’s great for your heart. You don’t need an expensive membership or high-tech fitness equipment, just comfy shoes and a little motivation. With a little effort, you can make walking a part of your daily routine, and the best part is, anyone can do it.

Led by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, and presented in the Municipality of the District of St.Mary’s by your local C@P Sites in partnership with the Physical Activity Coordinator, the Heart&Stroke Walkabout motivates residents to rediscover the magic of walking by putting our feet back on the street, and walking back into our hearts and minds.
