Call for Nominations to St. Mary's Audit Committee

St. Mary's Municipal Council is seeking up to two individuals to serve on the St. Mary's Audit Committee. The purpose of the Audit Committee is to provide advice to Municipal Council on the matters relating to auditing of finances of the Municipality. The Committee fulfills the legislative requirements as outlined in Section 44 of the Municipal Government Act (MGA).
The committee, including the outside appointment shall be appointed annually at the Annual Meeting of St. Mary's Municipal Council. An outside appointment to the committee may serve three consecutive terms (fiscal year). At that time the Municipality will advertise for an outside appointment for the next three terms. All committee members are eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses for meetings from their place of residence.
The Audit Committee will meet on the same day as a regular Committee of the Whole meeting of council and a minimum of twice per fiscal year. The committee will be chaired by the Warden of the Municipality. There will be no limit on the number of meetings; the committee shall convene whenever circumstances demand.

Waterline Notice To Residents

The Sherbrooke Water Utility will be replacing ageing waterline infrastructure this fall/winter. Construction is slated to start on Monday, October 30th, 2017.

St. Mary's Volunteer Open House

The Municipality of the District of St. Mary's is very pleased to announce Edith Auton as our Volunteer of Year! Edith was nominated by Brenda Kaiser of the Sherbrooke Village Inn. Edith has been volunteering for many years and has done many different things with different organizations in the community. She has been an active member of the Lions Club since 2012, serving in many capacities such as Director of the catering committee. She is also president of the Dart League, assists with the St. Mary's Education Centre/Academy fluoride treatments and Sherbrooke Village Old Fashioned Christmas. Edith is also very active in selling numerous tickets for many events and organizations around the community. Congratulations Edith and thank you for your dedication to making our community a wonderful place to live.

St. Mary's will honor all volunteers at a VOLUNTEER OPEN HOUSE on Tuesday April 10th, at 6:30pm at the Sherbrooke Lions Hall. All St. Mary's Volunteers are invited and welcome to attend. There will be tea/coffee, finger foods and great company.

Active Transportation

Active Transportation refers to any form of human powered transportation such as walking, cycling, using a wheelchair, skateboarding or snowshoeing. The Municipality is currently working on an Active Transportation Plan to connect Old Road Hill to Hwy. 7 and Main Street. Improving accessibility will provide opportunities for safe travel for visitors and residents.

Active Sherbrooke - Final Plan

Community Facility at St. Mary's Education Centre/Academy

The Municipality of St. Mary's and the Strait Regional School Board officially opened the Community Space at St. Mary's Education Centre/Academy. The Community Facility includes the SHOPS room, the Kids First Room and the Fitness Centre. Thank you to everyone who attended.
