Due to concerns of a second wave of COVID-19, the Municipality of the District St. Mary's will be offering new methods of voting for this election upon approval of the Alternative Voting By-Law. This will provide residents with safer options for voting including electronic ballot using the internet, telephone voting. There will still be one central polling station for those that would like to cast a traditional paper ballot.
The By-Law is a model By-Law from the Association of Municipal Administrators and was presented to Council on June 3rd, 2020 at the Committee of the Whole meeting. At which time, a resolution was made to approve the By-Law and the first reading, which commenced at the meeting of Council on June 8th, 2020. The second reading and motion to approve the By-Law is set for the next regular meeting of Council on July 13th, 2020 at 7:00pm in the council chambers at the St. Mary’s Municipal Office at 8296 HWY 7, Sherbrooke, NS.
