Transfer Station:
Martin Smith, Transfer Station Operator

The Transfer Station is a very important part of the Municipality. Martin is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the transfer station. Martin is a very loyal, keen, and faithful worker. He is always happy to help residents with questions or concerns they may have about the transfer station and is very experienced in the field.

Recplex:
Raymond Lays, Recplex Operator

Raymond is responsible for the Recplex, which is a big component of the Municipality. Raymond operates and controls the rink, helping residents stay active and exercise while following the rules and regulations of the Recplex. He also makes sure the ice is in great condition for curling, hockey practice and hockey games. Raymond just started working at the Recplex this year and is a very active, keen and nice person, so stop by the Recplex to see what Raymond’s up to.

Melanie Mills, Secretary/Receptionist/Cashier
Melanie has worked at The Municipal Office for 9.5 years. She is a very knowledgeable and eager worker. When you visit the Municipal Office, Melanie’s friendly smile is the first thing you’ll see. She handles Property Tax inquiries, Water Utilities inquiries, and collects all payments received for Property Taxes, Water Utilities and Recreation Rentals. Melanie assists many Seniors with several different grant opportunities, for example (heating rebates, seniors care grants and property tax rebates). She informs residents of the Policies, and Bylaws when they are unsure of what they need. If anyone needs updates on civic numbers or addressing, she can help with that as well. Melanie is a great source for learning more about the Municipality and is always open to help.

 Council Members

Council members are elected every 4 years, Councillors are elected by residents through a democratic process. They play a crucial role in governance to administration of their municipality. Councillors participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and bylaws, they act as a bridge between residents and municipal government. Municipal Awareness Week: November 5th – 11th

Ever wonder what the different departments at the Municipal Office were for?

Each day this week we will provide a bit of key information on each area and how these groups support you.

Structure of a Municipality:

Council:
The elected governing body who set priorities, set budgets and works to ensure that the public’s wishes are carried out.

Administrative & Finance:
Financial reporting and coordination of audits, grant applications to obtain local project funding, providing building permits and support for builders, training and support of staff.
Economic Development:
Responsible for housing needs, maintaining green spaces, making the municipality as emission-free as possible, increasing employment opportunities, and enhancing the overall quality of life.
Community Development and Recreation:
Responsible for programs and activities to keep the community in good health, occasions to explore nature and exercise.
Public Works:
Responsible for utilities such as drinking water and wastewater, maintenance of all Municipal equipment, managing the Recplex and maintaining the ice at the rink
