The Municipality of the District of St. Mary's is pleased to inform the public that repairs to the St. Mary's Recplex have been completed and staff are currently working on installing the ice for the season. The official opening day of the facility will be November 22nd.

Join the Municipality of the District of St. Mary's along with members of the UPLAND Consulting team to learn more about the new Streetscapes Plan for Main Street Sherbrooke. This Open House will be an opportunity to read the plan and ask questions. It will take place on November 14th, from 7-8 p.m. at the Sherbrooke Fire Hall in the community room. We hope to see you there!

First-responder organizations in Guysborough County and across Nova Scotia will be able to purchase necessary safety equipment with a $1.4 million investment from the province.

“First responders have an essential role in the safety of our communities, and we thank them for their dedication and commitment,” said Premier Stephen McNeil in making the announcement Tuesday morning. “Many of these organizations are supported by volunteers, who put countless hours into training and responding to emergencies. This funding will help ensure they have the tools and equipment to keep them safe.”

Eighty organizations are receiving funding under the program for 2019-2020, including the following local emergency services organizations:

  • Chedabucto Fire Dept., $17,156
  • East River St. Mary's Fire Dept., $20,000
  • Eastern Shore Ground Search & Rescue, $7,943
  • Erinville and District Volunteer Fire Dept., $5,432
  • Goshen and Area Volunteer Fire Dept., $20,000
  • Mulgrave Volunteer Fire Dept., $20,000
  • Sherbrooke and Area Volunteer Fire Dept., $20,000
  • St. Mary's & District Firemen's Assoc. $20,000
