First Responders Day

May 1st is the day set aside by Nova Scotia Legislature to recognize and acknowledge all First Responders for their selfless contributions to our communities.
In 2024, the Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s held the first celebration and awards event for all of our firefighters, paramedics, and police who serve us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Over 130 men and women were recognized for their contributions to the health and safety of each and every one of us, whether we live here or are just passing through.
This day, let us all take time to thank the many folks who serve. No matter if they are paid or volunteers, these are the heroes who run into danger when many run out and all deserve our respect and gratitude every day.
The Municipality will again be hosting a recognition event this year, considering the end of both fishing and construction seasons so even more of our first responders can attend.
Again, thank you.
