Whenever an emergency happens, getting the right information is crucial. Make sure you’re tuned into organizations that you know you can trust, like our local Regional Emergency Management Organization, local municipality, and the Province of Nova Scotia.

If it’s a time of the year that may see an evacuation, like flood or wildfire season, it’s important to have “go bag” prepared.

A go-bag is a pack that every family member and pet should have in the event you need to immediately evacuate your residence and won’t have time to pack. In an emergency, ever minute matters – don’t get caught off guard!

Along with your emergency plan, you should also have a household emergency kit. This kit will look after you and your family for 72 hours and help you get through an emergency.

It should be easy to locate quickly and carry, everyone should know where it is, and it should be checked twice a year to ensure nothing is expired.
